Picking and Creeping [LED Lamp update 20]

Since the parts for project Co2 meter are still on their way, I decided to explore my options regarding acquisition of a differential probe.

I emailed someone at Augustana College to see if I could borrow/rent a differential oscilloscope probe. He didn't have one, but said that I could ground my scope to my switching regulator with this.

Since the grounds in my scope are all connected, I can simply disconnect the earth ground from my scope's power cord, then connect the ground of the probe to the buck regulator circuit and ground through that.

It also came to my attention that buck converters are non isolated power supplies, aka lethal. Charming.

I will try this workaround out AFTER project CO2 meter is complete, because I only work on one hardware project at a time. The parts for that should be in by the end of next week. (Halfway into 2 week shipping from Thailand, courtesy of Futurlec).
